The visual guide to the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test
100 visual maps that turn the health and safety rules into pages your brain actually keeps. Revise in short sessions, even if English isn't your first language, and sit your test with the rules in your head. Then get your card and get on site.
Learn the rule behind the question, and you don't need to memorise 400 answers.
Real pages, exactly as you'll receive them.
Every map follows the same structure, so you always know where to look.
The rule drawn in 3 colour boxes, with a picture and a summary strip: your memory keeps the picture, not the paragraph.
Short cues that unlock the whole rule: one look and it all comes back.
How the test asks about it and the answer that looks right but isn't, in the red box with the warning triangle.
The numbered steps to work out the question on the day, and the law or regulation the rule comes from.
Nothing to put together. Open today's map and learn it.
I WANT THE CSCS TEST MAP →On the left, the rule as you'd normally read it. On the right, the map. Your brain chooses in a second.
Map 086 · Edge protection: 950, 470 and 150 mm. The rule is the same and the law is still the source. The difference is how much of it stays in your memory on test day. Text on the left: a plain-English summary of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 (Schedule 2) and HSE guidance on edge protection.
General responsibilities · Accident reporting · First aid and emergencies · PPE · Environment and waste
Dust and fumes · Noise and vibration · Health and welfare · Manual handling
Safety signs · Fire · Electrical safety, tools and equipment · Site transport and lifting
Working at height · Excavations and confined spaces · Hazardous substances
The test has 50 questions in 45 minutes and you need 45 to pass. That's 5 mistakes in the whole test. 44 out of 50 is a fail. Fail it and you pay £23.50 again, wait and find a new slot. And while you wait, there's no card, so there's no site: every day without it is a day's pay you don't get. Every map has the Watch out for the trap box, so you see the catch before the test does.
Revise in short sessions and book your test with the rules already in your head.
Your score report shows the weak areas. Open the maps for those chapters and fix them.
Drawings, colours and numbers do the work, with short sentences in simple English.
Learn the rule behind the question, not the answer.
Decibels, millimetres, days, volts and extinguisher bands drawn so they stick.
Refresh all 16 chapters fast, without reading the whole book again.

The CITB Health, Safety & Environment test for Operatives, the one from the GT100: the test for the Green Labourer card and most trade cards. It does not cover the Specialist tests or the Managers and Professionals (MAP) test.
No. The book is a list of more than 400 questions and answers. The maps are a visual summary: one page per topic, with the rule behind the questions, the numbers to remember and the traps marked. It works well alongside your question practice, because you learn why the answer is right.
50 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes, on a touch screen at a test centre. You need 45 right to pass. Some questions ask for two answers, some show a picture of a sign, and some ask which option is NOT right. The test costs £23.50 every time you sit it.
The maps use drawings, colours, numbers and short sentences in simple English, so you see the rule instead of reading long paragraphs. In the test, the text on the screen is in English, and you can choose a voice-over in 14 languages, including Polish, Romanian, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Lithuanian and Spanish. The Complete Pack also comes with Site English: The 150 Test Words.
Yes, it's separate. For the Green Labourer card you need two things: a pass in the CITB HS&E test and the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (or an accepted alternative). The maps prepare you for the CITB test. The Level 1 Award is a course you do with a training provider.
Nobody can promise a pass, and we don't. If it happens, you can book again, paying £23.50 again. Your score report shows the areas where you lost marks: open the maps for those chapters and revise them before the next try. Your access is for life, so the maps are still there.
Basic (£9.00) gives you the 100 maps. The Complete Pack (£12.00) gives you the 100 maps plus the 4 bonuses: The 45/50 Mock Test, The Sign & Colour Decoder, Site English: The 150 Test Words and The 7-Day Test Countdown.
It's for life. Use the maps for as long as you like. If at any point you feel they weren't worth it, write to us and you get 100% of your money back.
